It's a shame that Apple isn't at least back-porting security fixes for 3G users. No new features, just security fixes. (although that new version of WebKit would probably give them a nice speed-boost, too!)

That is exactly what I meant. I'm also out of the group of people who got the 8GB iPhone. But knowing the "App Store experience" staying at iOS 3.2 for a while longer, it gets tedious quickly. Devs update their Apps, and you can't go with them. If I had the 8GB iPhone since 2010 I'd be pretty annoyed with that.

In the end, the iPhone 5 will probably be like this:
1. Will look like a "thicker" 4G iPod touch.
2. Display is now 4" IPS LCD touchscreen that goes almost all the way the edge of the device on the left and right side when you hold it vertically.
3. The back will now be grey color, mostly because the back is now a Liquidmetal metal back. We can rule out carbon fiber back due to normally high production costs for carbon fiber parts.
4. Will have completely redesigned antenna designed so you don't get signal loss regardless of how you hold the device.
5. Will use Apple A5 dual-core CPU/GPU.
6. Will use 512 MB system RAM (unless Apple can squeeze out another 256 MB of RAM internally).
7. Storage capacities will be 16, 32 and now 64 GB of flash memory.
8. Will use new Qualcomm or Broadcom cellphone chipset that supports GSM, CDMA and LTE so the iPhone 5 becomes a "universal" cellphone.
9. Will incorporate the latest Bluetooth 4.0 standard connectivity.
10. Will incorporate near-field communications connectivity that is at least compatible with the Sony-developed FeliCa standard (very necessary for use in Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea).

but who would want to have a full featured iTunes when you still haven't solved the problem of typing. The most efficient part for me is to type out what you're looking for. I do, however, see the advantage to making playlists more efficiently on the go, giving you the ability to shuffle anything you choose, not just "All Songs" which is a bother. :)Text input can be addressed in a lot of different ways. Bluetooth portable keyboards, for example. If I got a tablet, I'd also get myself a foldable keyboard to take along with me. Or you can make do with a virtual keyboard activated by gestures (2nd image):

On another note, if they need me to pay for streaming 'my own' content, then they can forget about it.
If they are going to stream all kinds of content, unlimited number of times, then $7, $10 and I'm happy.

Down, down through the could went the ship. Faster and faster, until it came to a stop near a few portals. lbro jumped right out, and ran to the nearest one. chrmjenkins and jav6454 followed him across the cold ground. "Dang it! I've been trying to find the "brochure wizard" (specifically the flexible page/quadrant location feature) that you talked about in MS Word (I have the latest version and updates). I would find it very useful, but can't locate it. Can you tell me how to find it?
1) New>Project Gallery

3) Choose Business Forms.
4) Choose Brochure.
5) Choose a template that doesn't suck.
6) Wonder why brochures are listed under Business Forms.
7) Pray that you don't need more than a 6-column brochure on one double sided-sheet of paper.

5-7% is possible. Don't ever expect Apple to get above 10 again though.
At 7% the Mac will gain in momentum and grow to its full potential at 30 to 50% of the home market in probably just a few years, it will never stay at just 7%.

Would not be my first choice for gaming (not that I play games, but I did do flight sims once)
Is there anything else I should be concerned about? Maybe external monitor resolution? Movies?....I don't think so.

With my Black MacBook gaming was never an option because of the integrated Intel graphics.
I believe many MBA owners are like me and want a MBA that provides them with as many options as possible. Thus it is just a tad disconcerting when there is a good possibility the next generation MBA might reduce the number of options it provides to its owners. Then it again, it might not. Only time will tell. That is part of the fun of speculating on MacRumors.

The ways this has been described don't sound much like Apple. I guess they could build it into iTunes in some fairly fluid way, but still. There has to be more to the data center.
Nor do I see how the data center could allow people to upload non-purchased music. Too much required space, just look at your library size and do the math. iTunes has a massive user base.

This actually brings up more questions than answers though:
1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?
2) When, if ever, are they going to unite the CDMA and GSM iPhone releases (possibly in iPhone 5 with "World Chip")?
3) Does this affect the timing of iOS's release, which has traditionally been released with the new iPhone and has been centered around the iPhone's hardware?
4) The iPod touch has traditionally been released months after the iPhone. If the iPhone is released around Sept, will they release the iPod touch along with it?
1.) I doubt anything in Apple's schedule is etched in concrete. They will release new products when they are ready. Apple doesn't really need to follow any specific timetable. They got out of tradeshows so they weren't obligated to release new product at a third-party event. If Apple wants to move the iPhone release around the calendar, you better believe they will do whatever they damned well please.
2.) No one knows. You'll find out when the rest of us do: when Apple announces. The iPhone 5 is a possible candidate (the next likely opportunity would be the iPhone 6). The iPhone 4 (CDMA version) actually has a combo GSM-CDMA Qualcomm chip, although Apple does not utilize the GSM circuitry (there's no SIM card in that handset).
3.) It's entirely possible that Apple would change the release date for iOS to match a change of the release date of new phone hardware. Because they're Apple and they can do whatever they damned well please. They keep their own schedules.
4.) I personally do not think the supply chain can support a simultaneous iPhone/iPod touch release. While Apple can generally release things whenever they want, the iPods are a bit of the exception. iPod sales skyrocket during the holidays, so Apple really needs to have their holiday product line set by November. The more likely scenario (if Apple were to delay the iPhone 5 from June/July) would be a late August/early September release of the iPhone 5 and an October release of the iPod touch.

Once again, the iMac packs more processing power than the Mac Pro. (Even if you have a single hex-core.)

Am I the only one that thinks this is potentially the new UI?
I hope so, because they could easily make a nice "preview" like the dark floating controls in iPhoto.
Someone suggested that earlier, and I though it was a good idea, and then I remembered I had the same idea the other day. Great minds think alike, so this must happen.

I'm sorry, if you struggle to lose weight, you're not doing it right. Losing weight is dead easy. Keeping it off is dead easy too. Have your doctor check for any health problems which might prevent you from losing weight or recheck your food intake vs energy expenditure.
Losing weight is a very simple formula : Calories in < Calories out. Change the symbol around and you gain weight. Make it = and you keep your weight.
A lot of people don't understand this very simple mecanic which is the very basis of weight control. When you have this part down to a science, you can adjust the food intake to provide fibers/vitamins/proteins that you need.
In a physical sense, weight loss is simple. Burn more calories than you consume. Keeping it off means burning the same amount of calories you consume. Eating certain foods (ex broccoli, tea, DARK chocolate) have beneficial effects and are proven to increase the metabolism. Yes, the mechanics behind it are easy.
Now, the psychological aspects of weight control are anything but simple. Food is addicting, especially extremely processed foods (ex: McDonalds cheeseburgers). Many people eat because they are overweight, and they are also overweight because they eat. Many people have not been taught good nutrition and there are places in which eating well is virtually impossible. A study conducted by a government public health organization that I worked for has found that obese children and adolescents have a lower quality of life rating that children in the same age bracket with terminal cancer.
Eating food often is an addictive tendency. Yes, to a degree it is individual choice, but it does cause results which hurts all of society as you noted. With that said, you have to see obesity as a problem with multiple causes and that there is almost always an underlying cause (ex: people eat more when they are depressed). The lady in this particular article however defies all logic as larger people do not want to be obese.
Most importantly, obesity will grow in both prevalence and level of negative effects until a holistic system of living healthy becomes standardized, which thus far, has not occurred to the level needed to start to lower obesity rates. Obesity is both a physical and psychological condition, and I would argue it is also a disease.

I don't quite understand this... as people use their iPhones on T-Mobile jailbroken all the time. How could AT&T iPhones work on T-Mobile now if they need different hardware???
I guess the basic frequency is the same for EDGE and calls and what not. However, T-Mobile's 3G won't work with current iPhone's, so I guess this hardware update would change that.
