I bought National Treasure and was actually thrilled with the quality. I have the Apple Dock with the Apple Remote, and with National Treasure on my 20" tv in my room, you COULD NOT POSSIBLY tell the diff between a DVD and the download. In fact, I had my friend bring over his copy of National Treasure on DVD, and had them both playing as we flipped back and forth on the tv and you could not tell a difference on my tv.....

Well, it is a SDTV, I have not yet played my download on our HDTV...But DVDs look fine on it, so I'm assuming this will as well.....I am very happy and will definately buy again, just need more titles....

Call me clumsy or whatever, but I hate the 'corners': I accidentally trigger them all the time on a frien's machine. Mostly because I use the Apple menu a lot. I DO miss the old mouse's side buttons/center button!

Experienced mac users know to assign modifier keys to those corners to prevent that. I have the top left corner set to turn my display off (good for porn), but only when the command key is pressed.

A lot of charity products COST more--you are simply making a donation yourself--but apparently this is Apple making the donation at no cost to you?

Plus, a red aluminum iPod nano with iPod mini styling is pretty much my dream iPod.

In that case, I was wondering why the 25% negative votes?

I will make a blind guess without reading the thread. "The team who designed the red color should have been working on a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro instead, stupid Apple  "

You can return or exchange it but you'll have to pay a 10% restock fee ($25 or $29 depending on which one you bought). If you bought the 30GB just stick with the "old" 5G. If you bought the 60GB version then $30 is worth the price for another 20GB of storage. But my question to you is, what were you thinking buying an iPod the night before an Apple Special Event focusing on "it's showtime?"

You can return ANY apple product for a FULL refund if the product was updated within 10 days of the original purchase date!! Or you can get money back if the price was lowered!

I think that this is a good thing. Hopefully, it will convince other studios to join the iTS for distribution. And on top of that, Apple can sell high(er) definition movies.

Your mother approved of you slamming on the brakes and causing a car that potentially had a baby on board to swerve at a high speed? All because the car was blocking you from arriving at your destination a few minutes faster?

    Are you ****ing kidding me?

I don't like people who drive slow in the passing lane either, but I would NEVER put people's lives in danger just to save a few minutes on my drive. Think about that.

You probably thought you'd post your story and get a few laughs. Well, after reading your OP and subsequent posts, look who turned out to be the joke (it's you, BTW).

Oh, and change your ****ing avatar.

As the MacBook Pro is wider, it will get very light magnets at either end of the displays too, to hold it neatly shut.

So Google can take pictures of your house, back garden, car etc and post them for the entire world to see without asking you first, Facebook would sell your soul for profit if it could, and your worried about Apple tracking your phone, most likely for it's Find My Phone feature? hahahaha.

This is true I read this a while back and it was brought up today on a d.a.p site i frequent. Creatives TravelDock 900 speakers have an ipod shuffle connected to it on the box.

Kind of an interesting history note of digital audio players made back in 2004.

    Apple, please,

BRING BACK THE MAC CUBE concept!

A small yet powerful Mac. But this this at a REASONABLE price, to be a best-seller.

    Thanks.

Put a Conroe processor in a midrange headless system, and you'll have what the cube was supposed to be. The problem is that Apple just finished rationalizing a minimized line. To add something else into their lineup makes for all kinds of headaches.

    Low-end (headless) - mac mini
    Mid-range (all-in-one) - iMac
    High-end (headless) - mac pro
    Server room (headless) - xserve

In order to rationalize another product line in the mid-range (pro-sumer?) market, I think they'll need to focus it on some other feature that people need. Dropping the cube back out there just cannibalizes sales of existing product, if you are not careful with it.

Apple does not seem to believe that there is some large contingent of people who want a mid-range system that would prefer it not to have a monitor. I, however, think they are wrong, and they are missing a large segment of people who are willing to pay top dollar for a high-end well-designed machine. That market is the one for the high-end gamer.

Apple absolutely could produce a great machine aimed at high-end gamers. Produce a super-cool design aimed at that segment. Make it BTO with multiple upgradable graphics cards, fast bus speeds, fast ram, RAID 0, etc. They could leave off FW800, Bluetooth (most wireless gamer mice don't use it), and some of the other connectivity options that high-end gamers could care less about (modems, etc). Put the Conroe processors in there and crank them up as high as you can. The high end system could be liquid cooled, we already know apple can do that when needed. Most games are still not threaded all that well - but an MT OpenGL also couldn't hurt...

They could also Pre-install boot-camp as a BTO option. We all know any serious gamer is going to want windows installed - so just prep them for it. It wouldn't surprise me to see many more people buying macs to run windows on in the near future anyway.

There isn't any reason why such a machine couldn't look like the "cube" I suppose, but I'd probably prefer to see something different. The cube had a different design goal and has too much baggage associated with it anyway.

Maybe I misunderstood your post, I thought you meant releasing conroe machines and not shipping quads until months later. If that were the case, people would inevitably compare the new towers to the G5 quads, regardless if they were intended to replace those models.

I think the reason they haven't announced woodcrest towers is because they want to wait for WWDC, and because the line will be split between woodcrest and conroe. It wouldn't make sense to announce half the tower lineup, people would assume that was it and react accordingly.

Exactly! I think the orginal argument was someone saying that there was no way a Conroe was going into a tower or workstation. That the line-up was to be all Woodcrest because that was the only chip that would be feasible to use in a workstation. My counter point to that is - if it was all Woodcrest, they would be out by now. Waiting for WWDC says to me that Conroe is going in there somewhere. My guess is that the Conroe will be used to replace the currently shipping duals at a speed increase. Others argue that the proline will be all Quad... or at least all Woodcrest even if they use only one Woodcrest chip in the lower-end. My best guess is they split the line-up and use both processors. Woodcrest on top in Quad, Conroe on the bottom and middle. They will continue to offer G5 until MWSF to accommodate legacy users.

It's going to be interesting to see what path Apple chooses. The unknown element is that they "might" have something in secret development that will allow them to produce machines we haven't considered. Doubtful but fun to think about.

I like to see some benchmarks against G4 machines and see if they make me pull the credit card out.

They've done that in this benchmark, tho only on the Speedmark test:
Speedmark 4.5 scores are relative to those of a 1.25GHz Mac mini, which is assigned a score of 100.
If you go by that, the new iMacs are about 2.5x faster.

LOL, and yet you still haven't given any examples.

Right, and no where was this specified at this point in the conversation. You are simply fitting it in for your argument. FireWire was not mentioned in the original post.

I knew what article I posted and I knew what it contained and it served its purpose perfectly fine. I don't need to show you who's going to use it because it's going to be native in Ivy Bridge ALONGSIDE USB 3 as the title would suggest. There's no reason NOT to use it as the superior IO and it's already there. This isn't rocket science.

Wow, what a surprise. The OP decided to choose the route that served him better for the discussion.

I explained why ThunderBolt wouldn't be another FireWire. You weren't having it and decided to pull strawman attacks.

Pointing out spelling errors and telling someone that they belong on the short bus are two different things. Sounds like you have some self-esteem issues if you feel the need to tell someone they're mentally retarded over an IO discussion.

Dude, take a chill pill. Your arrogance is making you seem like a 12 year old throwing a temper tantrum.

I see Thunderbolt starting off strong, but USB 3 taking over and likely showing up on more devices than TB. USB 3 will likely become more popular, but TB is always going to be there as an option. I do not see it being built in to every PC on the market though like USB 3 will.

Section 4b of the software license agreement explains it all:

    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iphone.pdf

So does turning of Locations Services stop the data collection, or just stop applications from accessing it?

Does turning of Location services delete data already in the file?

I guess it works both ways, if accused of a crime you didn't commit, bring your phone to work and prove you were not their. And if you are going to commit a crime, leave your phone at home.
