Got a mails from USCIS that both my case and my spouse's case are approved and card will arrive shortly. However the online status still says 'Pending'.
Is this common and will the online status change in a couple of days?

I agree too with the original post by pointlesswait !! ..digital signature is good ..or if there is a site which allows people to show their support (I guess there are sites like these) .. also, in the document we should include these points (small and precise document) ..
- why legals are suffering
- advantages that legal immigration brings to US
- the effect of few senior professionals leaving the country etc .
..for e.g. ..if a senior programmer or lead gets frustrated and goes back then all this happens ..he / she takes the job away with him ..and in turn trains 10 other people (so more jobs go away). also along with a skilled person - all the investment and taxes are lost ..(for eg ..house + prop tax + living expenses etc etc) .. and the fact that US is turning older (i.e average age ..) etc etc
and a related point ..each IV member should try to contact 5 other immigrants and tell them about IV ..and they in turn should atleast show some sort of support

Attorney got back to me and said we will have to wait until 1st October, as he opened a SR on 1st September and TSC asked him to wait for 30 days.

I think lawyers are just another hurdle in getting the right answer at this stage - they dont get our urgency and many a times I just dont know why we hire them - may be a topic for some other time :)

Yes. That member and probably other such members are now on other site posting anti-IV posts.....
It is shameful to have such members among us.
Anyways, good thread. This site should help people fix the broken system rather than abuse each other or track all day. I hope due to the discussion, people can get some ideas and take action against such employers. IV will be willing to help as needed.
Wish discussions on this thread leads to some concrete suggestions/steps that one take to counter an abusive employer. and ofcourse IV should take steps to make these employers visible to the whole community so that others will not fall pray to them. Exposing abusive employers to the whole community is the most important thing that could thwart efforts of exploitation by such employers. This sounds some times more effective than than even going legal or to DOL.

I guess formal or semi-formal wear should be good enough in the heat.

May be US corporations can tactically support this bill because this bill will impact Indian bodyshoppers severly. For past 5 years US companies could not compete with Indian companies as they have more leverage on H1b. Now if Indian companies avoid H1b US companies can get any time they want as they can satisfy most of conditions

i'd like to know if you care a crap about anyone whose life is likely to be severely shaken up by the things you propound here. remember they are simply innocent bystanders, they neither made laws, nor bent them. just tool jobs offered and did their work...

My wife appeared for Visa interview on 6th and yet to receive the passport. we booked tickets for this weekend and seems we have to reschedule. I sent a mail to NIV and no response as of now.This is of concern. can anyone tell me about the normal turnaround time for H4 Visas these days?

I just got hold of one of the consulate staff and she told me that they are having some problem with PIMS database for background check and there is delay in processing passports. The lady I spoke assured me that, latest by Mon/Teusday of next week, we can expect passport. I will try to reach vfs in the evening and see what they say..

Does all this mean that if you have an approved LC it will only remain valid for 45 days?!
I am waiting to file my I-140 until my PD gets closer because I don't want to risk my daughter aging out.

Since they will be a party to this along with you it is better you talk to them and make sure they assist you properly. Also was your insurance at that time conforming to state minimum requirements if that is the case then you can breathe easy since you had done everything that law asked you to do so hopefully there is no criminal case against you. Worst if court ask's you to pay financially you can declare bankruptcy and minimize the impact. I am sure that does not affect GC. But rather than forum you need a good attorney to talk to. Make sure who ever you select to talk to about this accident case you arrange a meeting between this lawyer and your immigration lawyer so that both are well aware of situation.

I have been separated from my wife for 2 years and now I am going back and work in India.
