If you have the ead card, the file #/card# will tell you which center was your EAD fiiled. To get an approximate date using the online case status search for the file number in the approximate range as yours. For Eg. if you card # is EAC 07 043 52343 - then the center is Vermont, Filed in Fisical year 07 ( Oct -06 - Sep 07) 043 is the 43rd working day in FY07 and 52343 is the case number.

Dude, in a bunch of applications - some are approvable while others require more information. Do you want them to keep waiting on unapprovable applications, with old PDs, while the clock is ticking and the unused visas go waste before Oct 2008? Guess not?
That's why they advanced the PDs to give some room to approve later PD applications that are otherwise approvable. They do not have any math involved. They were playing "inky-pinky-ponky" to pick a month & yr to set EB-2 cutoff dates for Aug VB - the only logic was to advance it to a comfortable point--nothing beyond tht. They don't care about few months here and there, and don't care if they raise hopes of some immigrations or shatter hopes of others.

Yes. Its simple math. But if it was 10K visas a year, then why did they have to jump forward by more than 2 yrs? Nobody knows how USCIS works internally. The math that v have and the one that they have differ a lot and unexpected things (for good or bad) happen all the time.

Come on folks - all the way to Riverhead we have tonnes of people living in these areas affected by Retrogression.
EAD is not a solution - EAD just makes our life a bit easier than on h1b - the struggle continues even on EAD.
How can you expect govt to fix your problem if you lack motivation?
Lets start mobilizing the chapter

A few days ago there was a soft LUD on my spouses and my I485 applications. I am the primary applicant and I also had a LUD on my I140(approved in 2006).
Then a couple of days later the message changed for my spouse and we recieved a physical notice in the mail from USCIS. The notice stated that-
Only my spouses I 485 application was transferred from TSC to NSC. The reason for transfer of the application was "faster processing".
Has anyone had this experience where the derivative application was sent to another service center but the Primary application remained in the original center.
My lawyer says this is normal processing.

Gator, I wish I could answer that part.While I was doing research on AVR on this forum and other Google results, I think I did read somewhere that using AVR might affect adversly on AP application.
You know, 1 thing I did b4 going out was to go on CBP official website, went to Ask a Question and asked my question. I got reply same day from an official Chris. I printed that question and answer page and took with me, just in case. But everything was fine.

Guys, I seen many people who became devotee of Sathya Sai Baba to get instant gratification such fast money, success etc. But when they realized that Just by being his devotes, they can't just wipe out their past Karma and get instant results so they were angry and started evil saying and comment against Baba. So USCIS is still reviewing I-140 even at I-485 stage. That is scary if your I-485 is at different service center than your I-140 approval.
This is really a very scary ride. Hope we can all survive.
But one thing every one should remeber is not to relinquish their H1B status until you get your GC in hand. This is the easiest way to stay in status.

Recently, I made my own PP photos using http://www.epassportphoto.com/
This is a great service - It creates a jpeg file from a picture that you upload, and you can choose the "free" option in which you can save the jpeg file with 4-6 pictures in one frame (A 4" x 6" photo can yield 6 pp photos of 2" x 2"), and take it to Walgreens/Costco/Kinkos for a printout for $0.25 each. Otherwise you pay about $8-$12 for 2 photos at the same stores!!
For a family of 4, this equates to savings of ~ $40!!!
The site has all the tools for meeting various types of visa/pp/etc photo requirements for various countries.
Most WOLF camera and RITZ camera stores do the same thing for free. I have done this many times. Use a good digital camera and take the pics in memory stick or USB and they crop the photo to the right passport specifications. All you pay for is the print which is $0.25 or less.

Don't fret about the PERM time lines. It can take anywhere from 1 month to more than 6 months (for Fragomen clients) for PERM approvals/denials. Mine was filed in May and I also had to reply to an audit.
In your case because your PERM was applied more than 365 days before your 6th year H1 expires, even if you PERM approval doesn't come until Jun 09, your employer can file for a 1 year extension.
Now, I am not very sure about this scenario in case of a PERM denial. Maybe someone else can comment on that one.

A friend of mine who has a bachelor's degree from India applied for her labor through PERM under EB2 category, which was approved. This was done based on the attorney's advice. Later, when the I-140 was to be submitted, the attorney advised that they should file I-140 under EB3 as the employee just had a bachelor's degree and he thought that they would get an RFE or will not probably be able to justify her qualifications for an EB2 category. At that time he also mentioned that, once the I-140 was approved, they could go ahead and submit I-485 application as though it was an EB2 case based on the approved labor. Now that I-140 is approved under EB3 category, he is going back on his words and telling that since I-140 was approved under EB3 category, they should file I-485 as though it is an EB3 application. There is a vast difference in priority dates between EB2 & EB3 categories and this is not helping the problem. Would it be okay to apply I-485 under EB2 category based on the approved labor (EB2) or should one apply I-485 under EB3 based on the approved I-140 (EB3)? Anyone who has had any experience or has any information in this regard, please advise. Or did the attorney mess up first time and he is finding an easy way to fix the problem by going the EB3 route? I sometimes wonder if these attornies really know what they are talking about or they just out there to make money at the expense of innocent people like us.

Am working for a GC sponsoring company and applied for 485 in August 2007 and received EAD, AP etc...
Can i change the company with a H1B transfer and invoking AC21? Am not willing to move to EAD.. My current H1B is valid until Sep'09.
