Hi there,
I am trying to transfer my mum and dads VHSC tapes to my mac to then edit and burn onto dvd. I have the camcorder still however the only outputs in the camera are edit, audio (white), RF DC OUT, and Video (yellow). I do also have the video adapter where you put the VHSC tapes into and play it in a VHS player. However the tv/video combo I have only has one scart and aerial output and is the vhs player I have. I do also have a mini DV camcorder with the DV output to firewire cable. Is there anyway I can hook any of these devices with another tv or straight to laptop without spending anymore money please, as I am a student and cant avoid anymore equipment. Any help and guidance appreciated, if you need anymore info please let me know.
Amy :)

china doesn't need the iPhone, they can use their cheap little knockoff iphones... :p
And why would you need wifi in a country without internet?
Woa! Where the hell did that come from?! You uh... you need to work on that. Bad dog!

I don't see a massive problem... but I guess this is just typical Apple.

i had a similar problem with my nikon 50mm, inconsistent focus and hunting for focus, even after i locked it. Problem was, I thought i locked it, but i didn't check the settings on the camera iteself. I was set up for continuous focus instead of single focus, which accounted for the lens hunting and refocusing everytime i tried to compose a shot.
not sure if this helps, but once i did realize my error of not resetting the camera for what i was trying to do, the problem was gone.

its just how it works. the video card gets hot and the fans will turn on this happens with all laptops. just use your laptop. you don't need any programs to 'fix' it because it's not broken.

Personally, I think it's a refresh rate issue which I think is a software issue. If I put any of my LCDs on the wrong refresh rate, they have identical lines to those of the powerbook.

You guys are fast!
Cool. So far I have just been right clicking "set as desktop" off the images themselves. I haven't added any folder to the desktop/wallpaper preferences pane - is this why my wallpaper last night didn't "stick" after shutting down? It went back to the default wallpaper this morning when I turned it on.
Sorry, this is my 1st apple ever and I just got it 2 days ago :(
So far it's been very intuitive and easy to learn and convert from windows though!

Posted my mac pro 1.1 on ebay to end on monday. Looking at new mac pro, but hoping apple would do a minor processor refresh to include the 3.2 hex, etc. any history of doing this?

Try resetting the PRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
On a side note. You should never install a developer preview as your primary OS.

Oh I'm sorry, wrong meeting.
Wrong meeting? errr… how many do you actually go to??? ;)
As for Time Team - did they find an actual full henge? (Well all the post holes)? I can't remember either... (I thought it was the local work camp and an explanation of the ritual landscape?)
I thought they found evidence of the post holes in a circle, and outside of that circle they found human remains, I do remember the ceremonial walkway between the sites, and the theory that they'd built a dock on the nearby river etc.
But like I said it's all rather fuzzy though. *strokes chin*

From what I understand, high impedance headphones came about in old studios. The main advantage is that you can run many headphones in parallel (on tube amps). I guess it would all come down to power transfer, the amp acts as a load in itself in a way, and if the headphone impedance is really low, you won't get a good signal as most of the power will be dissipated in the amp.
But most modern D/A end with an opamp, or at least I'm guessing the one in the macs do. It's certainly not tube. As much as opamps probably don't have the sound quality of tube, their output impedance is very low. So there shouldn't be a power transfer problem. So I'm guessing that noise shouldn't be a big problem. Sure the voltage in the high impedance will be higher, thus there should be a bit less noise, but really, that's nothing compared to having a cheap D/A stuck inside a computer. Also there shouldn't be a problem with the frequency response.
From what I understand, tube amps have a higher output impedance, so they can have a hard time with certain low impedance headphones.
Apparently, there's could be a difference in sound as there's a bigger magnetic field, so possibly better control over the diaphragm. But I somehow doubt that high impedance headphones will make a macbook pro sound magically good.
I could be totally be off, I never came across high impedance headphones. Kind of a cool thing to think about.

Now I'm wondering, they say the first 500 people there will get a free T-shirt, is that the first 500 that actually buy Leopard, or the first 500 that walk into the store? I ordered online, and because of the issues with not being sure whether MacMall is going to ship it and have it to me on Friday, I'm still teetering with cancelling the order, going to the store, buying it with my student discount and getting the free T-shirt.I'll be at the Palo Alto Store by about 2PM with my copy from a nearby college bookstore that I'm getting for $69 before 2PM. That should put me near the front of the queue.
I go to the store for the party social part and get in line even though I am not going to buy it there so I can get inside the store to play with it on one of the Macs inside. I'll have my old G4 PB with me and will be installing it while I'm in the queue from the copy I buy earlier at a college store nearby.
Pretty sure you have to buy a $129 copy to get the T-Shirt.

to get your VHS source onto your computer it would have to be digitized first. So either you digitized the video or someone did it for you. How this was done determines the base quality of your DIGITAL source. It can't be better than your source, but it can be converted to a more useful or less useful digital format (h.264 = more / mpeg2 = less for example).
it seems your asking how imovie handles video import for various versions. I don't use imovie, but i can tell your quoting some rather old versions (think it's up to 11 now). this should help with version history and what you can expect: http://tinyurl.com/6gk3p57
if the software got better over the year it may handle recording the source in a different way (e.g. filtering noise while recording, bettering line time base...).
I'm really scratching my head. You not recording, your importing a digital file or your capturing from a digital source such as DV tape.
Noise filtering would be a filter...that's a post process.
Have no idea what a "line time base" is.
There are plenty of products out there for cleaning up old / damaged / noisy video, but they are plugins for the most part (build-in or otherwise).

Over on Appleinsider there is some speculation that the problem with the PM update has to do with dual CPUs (because the single G5 Xserves have been shipped, apparently with 90nm CPUs). If that's the case, tho, that wouldn't affect PBs...

WOW...well first off i think that your thread is in the wrong forum. but here goes:
>Want to go with the 512MB memory.....need more? less?
comments?
it's your choice, but the more RAM you have the better :) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get RAM from Apple.

This is about as low as I have ever seen a mac site fall.
Never liked the Spymac theme. Can not imagine someone would think enough of it to place it on luggage and glasses.
What are they thinking?

Personally, I let the phone drop to 0% and then recharge it to 100%. You really don't HAVE to, but some recommend it.
When the iPhone reaches 100% charge, it will not accept any more - so, no, it's not bad to keep it plugged in.
