Thanks Dude. I am in a rejection situation (of I485) here and had opened an MTR in December' 08, haven't heard since them from USCIS.

Hang in there, i am in a similar boat, I applied for 485 in late 2003 and missed the boat each time with namecheck, i was cleared all this while but my wife who is the primary was stuck. I am on my 4th EAD/AP, just applied for the 5time.
My 6 years of H1 expired long back, i guess we were lucky to be able to file for 485 and i could continue working on EAD.
Our great lawyer who filed an EB3 petion for my wife and 'advisied' my company 3 years back not to spend money on my labor because my wifes PD of mid 2002 was good. I know i should have broken a coconut and applied vermillion on the application before sending it off, maybe that would have changed everything :p

lol .. uh-oh.. I think i did something wrong..
I reviewed the tuturial.. and during step2.. there should be a strip of rectengle hanging on top of it? (In my case on the left/right side..I am making a vertical one) hmmmm...
My steps..
1. I made a New File..
2. Made "layer 1" and made a 20x500 vertical rentangle with rantengle marquee tool.
3. filled it in with paint bucket
4. CTRL +click on the layer that contains my rectangle.. then moved it 1 up and 1 left..(just the whole thing moved)
5. made "layer 2" and with paint bucket I filled it with white..(BUT!! big BUT!! :) I still had Marquee tool on my rectengle.. and it looked like nothing happened to layer 1 or 2 after filling it in)
6. then CTRL +click on the layer 1.. and clicked "layer 2" when it was highlighted....
what did i do wrong? :*(

Hi everyone
My husband (H1B) and I (H4) We live in Chicago and wanted to get H1B visa stamp in Canada. My husband has been on H1B since 2003 and he is NOT in IT field.
Our experience:
Step 1: Put together all the documents and take a appointment date in Ottawa (Toronto had a long wait and we had heard a few horror stories so to be on a safer side)
Step 2: Went to Detroit to get a Canadian Visa. Very straight forward the only question we were askes was "Why are you going to Canada for a visa stamp?" We got our passports the same day. This can be done via post as well!
Step 3: We drove to Ottawa - 15 hours from Chicago. Crossed border in Niagara, NY. It was very cool. Hardly 30 min wait in the queue and 5 min wait at the window. We didn't even got out of car.
Step 4: After spending weekend in Niagara and Toronto reached Ottawa on 22nd Nov for visa appointment on 23rd Nov, 9 am.
Step 5: My husband reached consulate at 8:45 am (We stayed 10 min from the consulate in Quality Inn hotel, Ottawa) He was asked very basic question. Such as:
Which employer?
How long on H1B?
What do you do?
Has immigration petition been filed? (Yes)
Do you have the document for labor? (No I only got H1B relevant documents.. Sorry!)
Why stamping in Canada?
Step 6: He was told that his passport will reach DHL office on either Thurs or Fri (2-3 working days)
Step 7: We came back to Ottawa on Thursday (26th Nov) after spnding one day in Montreal and one day in Quebec city. We straight away went to the DHL office (timing are 8:00 - 18:00 closed Sat, Sun) They had his passport ready even when online the status was saying no info !!
Step 8: Friday - 27th Nov we drove back to US and crossed border at 1000 Island bridge in NY. We had to get out of our car and they issued my husband a new I 94 (nothing for me) because he didn't have a white I -94 he only had a bottom part of his I 797 approval. They charged $6 for I 94. They were very friendly unlike immigration at airport!!
We reached home on Saturday after a fabulous road trip along with a successful visa stamping!!

Hello frnds,
Just today, started new contract job at Clients place with big consulting firm on EAD. On my first day in the evening I got a call from consulting firm saying my back ground check have criminal record from state of Idaho. Till now I never ever was involved in any kind of criminal act. They asked me to stop going to work till it is resolved. consulting firm says all the states and federal agencies cleared me where I last lived, except state of idaho where i worked for 5 months.
Frnds please help! how should I resolve this issue. I have signed a 6 month rental lease, Left my H1B employer depending on this job. More over to all this we are expecting our first child and my wife doesnt have insurence. I was so happy I got this break but now this false check.
Please let me know if any one was in this situation and got out of it successfully.

as a consumer YOU have to the right ot get taht report and dispute it, meanwhile stay calm and try work with your employer, I guess there is nothing much you could do if they jsut go by the report and they cant be liable for anyhting, your b est bet is get the report or the least the name of the company that did ur background check and go from there...good luck...very unfortunatae situation...

My PD was dec 2005. eb3. India.
Thought i would share with you all.:)
Correct me if i am wrong. In May Visa bulletin the PD date was April 2004 and in June 13 th Visa bulletin it was Current for July filer and after that everybody knows about the fiasco. How come you filed in June when your PD was not current (Your PD in mail is Dec 2005)?

Although I need my passport desperately, I dont want to spend a fortune on a last min. flight or drive for 16 hours, just to hear that I did not wait for 8 weeks as I am supposed or that I can only receive it through mail. Unless I am 100% confident that I will get it, I do not want to go there, atleast not till the end of February. Especially, I dont want to go there in depseration and pay $150 for the tatkaal.The employees neither justlify their salaries nor the positions they hold which were primarily meant for helping Indians in US.

I personally believe, that just being an Embassy somewhat explains the delays in DC office but clearly, it does not justify the attitiude of the employees there.

I have done this when i moved at the end of May. I also recieved a confirmation mail that the address on my application has changed.

Is it advisable to put in a big % of your income into the retirement account. There seems to be a nearly 30% early withdrawal loss if you ever were to pull money early out of that prior to 60 years of age. So basically your own money will be lost.
Any ideas on this issue? It is not that I am planning to withdraw early but just for information purpose.
I contribute no more than 10% of my pay towards my 401K. I would not contribute more than this because I don't intend to stay here for a very long time. Also, I would be happy to put my money in savings with a decent return and stocks rather than my retirement fund.
