I found a great price on a new/unopened 27" ACD on craigslist, and I'm checking to see if it's legit. As I've never owned an ACD, can anyone tell me if the serial number is on the box? I know Apple puts it on a sticker for all computers and, I think, iPhones.

That's a great idea! I'd love to see that for when I'm traveling and don't want to turn on international data roaming for the internet, but can still use cell towers for triangulation of my position.
Android has had this for months. Not only do they have turn-by-turn directions, but their maps are vector based, which is highly compressed. Accordingly, they can cache thousands of miles of maps onto the phone with a few seconds of internet connection.

I am trying to decide if you are serious. I suspect most people here understand what a cache is. I think most have a pretty good idea about cell tower triangulation. We are the people SJ is talking about. I'm not sure what the point about understanding technology is about - why do we NEED to know how a smartphone does what it does? It would be nice to understand what features can be turned off if we feel it is outside our comfort zone.
A user may not be bothered about his firewall, he wants it to do what it supposed to. Do you think that the average person would be happy that it sends a feed of the traffic back to the OEM to target the owner for advertising? I seem to remember Belkin had a similar issue some years ago and hurriedly rushed out a firmware update after it was caught.
There are a few Chicken Littles on this forum who masquerade as mind readers of Apples true intentions pertaining to the use of technical data but obviously need remedial education.
Hopefully it would enlighten them before they continually regurgitate their same tiring drivel over and over.

Wow, all the tablet haters here continue to live in the past and nothing will change?
All of these complaints can be rectified:
- A company has already demoed a pressure sensitive iPad stylus, but can't release it due to it using hidden APIs. In other words, it's possible.
- Colour correction is trivial to add. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a future version of iOS
- No you can't process 30MB RAW files on an iPad 2, but why not an iPad 5?
You haters sound awfully threatened that someone's going to take your Mac away. You also seem to think the APIs and specs of iPads are locked now forever.
For people stuck in the past, I would think you'd have notice that the current iPad has specs exceeding Macs of just ten years ago. Funny how there have been people doing professional work with Macs more than ten years ago. Did amnesia set in since then? Are you all too old and your memory is going?
There's nothing described in this thread that I can't see happening with a tablet. Combine this with the fact that lots of people want to work in various places where even a laptop is cumbersome, and it's pretty easy to see that pros will embrace the iPad. It's coming people; accept it or get left behind.

Thanks, Huntn. Good post. Here are my thoughts on your ideas:
There is a long term move to dismantle government social programs and who needs the truth when we can lie? You know we can't afford you social program and your school because we have these billion, thats B-I-L-L-I-O-N dollar bombers that need building.
This is all very simplistic, but here goes:
1. Reform Health care- one illness from bankruptcy is not acceptable for a developed country. Health care should have never been turned into a profit machine along the same lines that you don't want your police and firemen as for-profit enterprises. The larger the pool the smaller the costs.

Providing health services and goods has always been a for-profit enterprise. This is exactly what has lead to the amazing growth in medical technology in the past 100 years.
2. Cut programs before lowering taxes especially on the rich- you can't balance a budget if you have no income. If you must lower taxes, you must first cut the programs and deal with the popular unrest before cutting any taxes. This is exactly what the champion of the Republican Party did not do- Reagan, he cut taxes but not programs and this country ran the first substantial deficits since WWII.
I tend to agree. Cut programs until our expenses match our current 'revenues.' When the two are equal or are in the black, let's immediately pass an balanged-budget amendment so this problem never happens again.
3. Progressive Tax policies are a must- The rich are rich. Make them pay their fair share. They can afford it. Cutting their taxes to create jobs is mostly a conservative smoke screen to **** over average citizens.
For the record, they are paying their fair share. The top 50% of wage earners pay over 95% of the income tax. Your disgusting attack on all conservatives wanting to '****' over all citizens is just that... disgusting.
4. Stop allowing the Exportation of Jobs- If you want to keep a standard of living. Lowering the standard of living reduces income and tax revenues.
How? Trade embargo's? Certainly you understand that increasing taxation on the wealthy and corporations certainly won't help.
5. Enact policies that support a strong Middle Class- instead of wiping it out for the sake of the rich. A strong middle class powers the economy.
Lower taxes? Strong business climate with low unemployment? You seem to be contradicting yourself... what strong middle class policies are you specifically talking about?
6. Search High and Low for Corruption- No system will work if it's corrupt. Submitting thousands of fradulent Medicare claims is hurting us.
I agree. I would start with a MASSIVE simplification of the tax code, and virtual elimination of all government subsidies over the next 5-10 years.

I'm sorry to say that "class=title" is not structure either. It may look structured to you in the code (especially compared to "class=blue"), but it has no meaning as far as content structure goes. You should be using the headings tags (H1, H2, etc) and then apply styles to those tags.
Unless you're using <h1 class="title">, in which case I'll have to say "redundant". ;-)
There are other places you might use class="title", eg. in a form such as the form you type replies to posts in. It has a 'Title:' input field. I just meant class="title" as an example of semantic design.

This sounds good but here is what i run in to
1. I can fit all the media on my imac ( after 3TB) for streaming via itunes and AirVideo
2. External Drives are not backed-up via time machine
I dont trust the drobo for anything but time machine after my recent close call with it.
I currently do monthly backups to sata drives that sit on a shelf when not in use this is a pain but loosing many dollars of media is worse
Are there dives bigger than 3TB to install on my imac?

The keynote was terrible.
It's called "MacWorld" yet there was nothing in there about the mac. Just this little toy that dosn't really interest me that much called the "iPhone" and the "Apple TV".
I completely agree. I'm really wanting them to put up the video stream of the keynote so I can see if MacRumors had it right when they put this on the live coverage feed:

I find some pages are designed to be too wide or and some too narrow. If I can control the width of the pages and the fileds, it would be good if it remeber those settings for that page and site.
