Apple today released Logic Pro 9.1.3 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1014) and Logic Express 9.1.3 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1015) to address an issue with Hyper-Threading.This update delivers improved general stability and compatibility.
Issues addressed with 9.1.3 include:
- Resolves problems related to the support of Hyper-ThreadingUnder Logic 9.1.3's audio preferences, users can specify the number of audio rendering threads the software will open at any one time. While the option is set to "automatic" by default and the maximum number of available threads is determined by the number of processor cores and support for Hyper-Threading on the user's computer, the setting allows users to manually adjust the number of threads to best fit their workflow.
The updates weigh in at 193.01 MB (Logic Pro 9.1.3) and 139.68 (Logic Express 9.1.3) and require Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later.

A 27" iMac with an upgraded 6970M is not a standard retail channel configuration. Neither are models with solid state drives or SSD/HDD combos.

I remember having a similar problem back in the late 80s - I had a Commodore 64, which plugged into a PAL TV and had the British keyboard layout. When I first got a PC, it came with an American keyboard (as all PCs sold here do) and I had to get used to it.
Fast forward 15 years, put me in front of a British keyboard and my typing slows dramatically. So you'll get used to it.

Is anyone running Lion on a lower-powered machine? I'd like to hear feedback on those who have tried it on an 11" MBA.
tried Lion with my 11" base air but with 4 gig of rams. smooth as butter. i think the air is capable running Lion without any hiccups. make sure the minimum ram is 4GB.

Nope. A pillow (by definition I believe) is a cushion, which a MBP is not. I guess you can say it qualified as a support.
Nothings stopping you from putting your head on it. I'm sure it could take the load, but i would recommend just getting one of those heat pads.

My MacBookPro 2,4 Ghz 15' Santa Rosa doesn't start. Every time I try to start the computer it just says that I need to restart and it goes on and on with the same message.
The monitor has stripes of red/purple over a purple blueish background. And all this happens 2,5 years after buying it. I would like to know if this repair program will be extended to Portugal, when the claim will be won after December 2010.
I do hope so and Apple must be aware of the quality of the parts she is buying for their computers.
It's the second time I have this problem in 4 years with 2 different computers, although the first time the motherboard was replaced within the warranty time.

If you're in the UK, your best bet will probably be Crucial, as they run a UK web store. Crucial sells the proper modules with Apple-approved heatsinks.
�235.19 inc. VAT for two 4GB sticks (8GB kit). Not exactly cheap, but really, it's only about 10% more than what I would pay for the same thing in the States, after I factor in tax (which Crucial charges in my state), based on the currency exchange rate.

You forgot to add that the iMac has a much much much bigger screen which, besides everything else, is of much higher quality than than any MBA.
OP in every aspect the iMac is the better value for money - faster, bigger screen, more convenient even for trivial tasks like writing and browsing, let alone picture editing. You have to decide whether you need a laptop or a desktop.
I've decided to go for both, as it turned out I cannot give up the ergonomics of a desktop computer while at home.

Thanks all for your reply. I will invest in getting the D90 with 18-55 kit lens and see about getting the 55-200 lens :)
