To answer your questions, yes they interviewed me and my wife together. Attorney is not critical, our attorney did not accompany us - one reason id because he is in Atlanta whole I'm in NJ. Yes he can approve and stamp your passport right then if everything goes fine. Our PD was not current back then so he said he could not do it.
But in our case even though he said our applications were through and should get our GC as soon as it becomes current I had to wait for 4 months to get GC after it became current and after contacting every possible office. But that was my luck :rolleyes:

Considering, if lobbying with $ is how things work here and it will help the govt. to fund the war, I've a great idea.
Tell the lawmakers, we legal H1b highly skilled workers are willing to shell out $10K-$20K, if they can have a provision after I-140 to let us get I-485 Premium Processing. This fee, lets call it Premium processing GC fee, can help government in all the good ways.
Paying this premium processing is giving government funds to support various things namely balance budget, fund the troops in war.
IV should consider this seriously and debate.

I presume this is independent of the Advance degree provision in Sec 508 of the bill. India/China would not qualify for the diversity visa program any way. Correct me if I am wrong.

Excellent. I am new in this cage..but I am proud to be here. I will definetly donate generously for 4 core for future lobbying. Also I would think..we need 2 avoid anti-immigration media such as CNN etc. I saw WSJ, Business Week, CNBC(Brian William news at 6.30), CNBC Maria, Washington post, New york time and some other local news paper helping us with covergae on this issue. I agree that TANA & ATA are big organizations. But their focus is entertainment. And I heard that there is a lot of corruption. There are some allegations that people spend lot of money to become the president(or some other highest post). Who ever is competing for the highest post, they spend lot of money towards new membership program. they register all new members and ask them to vote for them. This happens just before the elections for the post. I do not think, people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for new member registration with out expecting some thing back. Probably, there may be lot of corruption involved. I do not think, it is good idea of joining such kind of organizations. More over, there may be more organizations for each indian language in USA. Are we going to attach with all of them?

I checked on the website, and it has a note - " Important Note: In certain cases of an old passports issued by an office other than the Consulate General of New York, a passport is issued for one year. In such cases, applicants have to apply for extension of the passport any time after 45 days. A passport is also issued for one year in cases of expiry of valid U.S. residence visa. In such cases, applicants have to apply for extension of validity as soon as valid U.S. Residence visa is approved. "

If you see the instruction of form I-131, it clearly says AP is an exdraodinary measure and should be sparingly used, for emergency purpose (page 1). AP can not be used to by pass the visa or visa issuance process. It clearly says that if AP is based on pending I-485, then the travel should be for family emergency and bonafide business purpose (page 3).
As because, USCIS/CBP is flexible for AP admission it does not mean that the rules are flexible. If the CBP agents at POE wants to flex their muscles they can deny the admission of AP holder, if they found the travel was not an emergency or a bonafide bussiness travel.

You could apply to change status from L-1 to H-1B while staying in the US. If the L-1 expires while the change of status is pending, however, you could not work during the gap.
You should not have a problem getting a H-1B visa in India. Have you thought about Canada or Mexico either?
